TRUST THE PROCESS - LET GO

To have belief, to possess faith is to have an internal trust in what cannot be fathomed, grasped or seen. Or rather, it is an outer sensation, a power that lays your path forming this trust within. This is a reliance upon the divine.

When we have control and can sensor every moment within our sight we feel comfortable and at ease. And when this blessing slips through our fingers, falls over the tips unexpectedly our whole world is shaken. All is lost in unfamiliar waters whilst the warmth has been stripped from our hearts. We are left standing in unknown territory wondering where to go. Suddenly the path becomes a smokescreen, nothing is certain or clear.

Let go

For a moment just look outside and reflect upon what you see. It may be a bright sky, individuals on their ways or the birds sitting on the roof tops. Now what's the common thing here? They're all transitioning and moving forward, even if you don't see it.

The bright sky will transform into the shadowing of the night. The individuals will reach their planned destination and the birds will hunt and return to their nests with full bellies.

Nothing waits, so don't get left behind. Time wont wait for you. Every second is precious. This is the starting point. It's time to let go and move forward.

Whatever it is you're holding onto, let it go. Harder than it looks, I know. This grief which clings to your chest remove it even if shatters you like glass. Let it run through your body and take it's course.

Withdraw your habit to control, detach your obligation to know. It doesn't need to be at your possession. Let go. This is what it means to trust the process.

A complete trust

To trust the process completely, also means to trust it with absolute certainty. It is not the need to know what is unfolding or why, but simply to understand and fulfil the present first. We're constantly searching and living for tomorrow when we abandoned the blessings of today. If we can't be grateful for the present, tomorrow will never come. There's no need to live in the unknown, its way too draining.

To trust the process is to have faith and certainty that there is a divine plan. It can transfer you to places you never thought were possible. Allaah says:

- And whoever fears Allaah - He will make for him a way out

wa many yattaqil laaha yaj'al lahoo makhrajaa

وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا

- And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allaah - then He is sufficient for him.

Wa yarzuqhu min haisu laa yahtasib; wa many yatawakkal 'alal laahi fahuwa husbuh

وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ

al- Qur'aan, 65:2-3

Patience and fulfilling the means is a huge part of the process. Remember, even if things currently look negative, it's not your final setting, its just a part of the plan.

Possessing trust requires one to walk the path, the destination will come. When you walk you tread with feeling. Decisions arrive based on the delicate thoughts of positivity that arise within and lessons learnt. They may be small seeds, but they tug onto your heart so let it blossom the way for you.

And as we ponder upon this path learn to enjoy the steps. Everything is difficult at first. Think of the sword it is forged within complete heat and fire hammered consistently to gain its shape and strength. This is also the part of the process of trusting what's ahead. We are being moulded into better versions for what's to come. These first steps are strenuous. However, the final blade is polished upon completion, strong, durable, visually appealing and classy. You have purpose and wisdom after such devastating procedures. But now you can shine and cut through your enemies with ease. This is what the journey will feel like, difficult at first but empowering at the end. It is the trials that shape us. It is the difficulties that make us.

Why it's important to trust the process

- You become resilient: Resilience is something you gain by trusting the path. Whatever life throws at you, the battles you have fought and currently are, you know it's only for a temporary cause.

- Personal growth: The hurdles you encounter in life, even the most painful you will grow and development from them. Lessons will be learnt which produces wisdom and experience.

- Timing: You will understand timing is everything. Nothing is random and purpose is installed into our every step. One dot connects to the next. After pain and through the lessons we've learned, only then we can be where we need to be. It all has its preparation and timing. What is yours will never miss you and the opposite applies.

- Allows gratitude: Life is tough already and there's no need to add even more worry and fear for the future. By letting go it gives us room to be grateful for today. You learn contentment even if you're not where you want to be.

- Value: It's easy to break your own heart when you stress and overthink. But when you trust the process you learn to value yourself enough to stop stressing yourself out. When you build your character through the process, you're also building discipline.

I pray this blog sheds some light and I finally leave you with the words of Prophet Muhammad [ﷺ] which were said to his companion Abu Bakr when they were driven out of the city and took salvage within a cave:

Do not grieve; indeed Allaah is with us

laa tahzan innnal laaha ma'anaa

لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنَا
